Campaign to Save the Tote!

Artwork by Sam McPherson

As you might have heard the Tote is up for sale. The team at The Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar have a pozible campaign running to buy it.

The excellent thing about this is they plan to set it up in a legal sense as a venue that can keep supporting Melbourne’s music scene ongoing.

Details need to be worked out, but setting it up for music first rather than profit or yet more apartments. Similar in ethos to efforts to buy the Nicholson building to secure the studio spaces, this is artists working towards securing these important Melbourne creative spaces for the future.

Here at Plank we’d like to do our bit. We’ve signed up as a life member already.

We’re also putting up a production desk for the campaign. Basically the next production desk order we get, we’ll pledge the full order price towards the campaign. So if you’ve been thinking of getting one, now’s the time.

Make sure you check out the Pozible page and share it round. If you’re in a position to pledge something, there’s a whole host of options to choose from.

The campaign has already raised over half what’s needed so how’s the time to chip in if you can.
